Overview



The city of Binzhou is endowed with unique natural advantages. Accompanied by rivers and seas, it lies in the geographical axes of the 2500-kilometer Bohai Bay, the connecting district of Jingjintang ( Beijing, Tianjin and Tanggu Area) and Shandong Peninsula, and the joining part between Pan Bohai Economic Circle and Yellow River Economic Belt.



The city of Binzhou is characterized by multiple landforms. There is a stretching mountainous area in the South, broad beach in the Northeast, wide expanse of flat hinterland, big and small lakes, various tunnels and dykes, and several rivers rushing into the sea.



Larger chain of mountains and lakes here include Changbai Mountains and Mount Huang in Zouping and Mata Lake in Boxing. Besides Yellow River, other famous rivers include Little Qinghe River and Tuhai River, etc. Thanks to the diversity of landform, Binzhou boasts of vigorous farming, forestry, animal husbandry, fishery, and agricultural-product-processing industries. It has an agricultural structure with diversified crops. Moreover, it enjoys exquisite landscape and varied geographical environment.



The local people of Binzhou have inherited and created colorful Chinese traditions and culture. For instance, the well-known opera form Luju of Shandong Province is originated from Liuguan Village of Boxing County in Binzhou; the paper-cutting art popular in Bin Xian County has a long history of over 700 years; civil artistic forms such as the festival of lanterns and book gathering are originated from Yuan Dynasty and have gain wide reputation.
